How to Connect Google Sheets to Kaivo
By connecting Google Sheets directly to your Kaivo-managed BigQuery data warehouse, you can access and analyze millions of rows of data, build pivot tables, and create charts and do AI analysis with Gemini (if included in your Google workspace) without leaving your spreadsheet.
Prerequisites
You must be signed into Google Sheets with the same Google Account that is connected to your Kaivo workspace.
Step 1: Initialize the BigQuery Data Connector
Open a new or existing spreadsheet in Google Sheets.
In the top navigation menu, click Data → Data connectors → Connect to BigQuery.
A splash screen titled Connect and analyze big data in Sheets will appear. Click the green Get connected button.
Step 2: Select Your Kaivo Cloud Project
An Add data connection window will open prompting you to Choose a cloud project.
Locate and select your specific Kaivo workspace/project from the list.
Step 3: Choose Your Dataset and Table
In the next view, titled Choose a dataset, select the specific data connector source you want to pull data from.
Once the dataset is chosen, the window will update to Choose a table or view. Select the data table you wish to import.
Click the green Connect button in the bottom right corner.
Step 4: Finalize the Connection
A loading screen will briefly display Connecting data... while Google Sheets authenticates and links with your Kaivo warehouse.
When successfully paired, a confirmation modal reading Success! Your data is connected will appear. Click Get started to close the prompt.
💡 Important Tips for Working with Your Data
Data Preview vs. Full Dataset:
Your newly connected data will appear as a new tab along the bottom row of your spreadsheet. To optimize performance, Google Sheets will only display a preview of the initial rows in this tab. However, rest assured that any formulas, pivot tables, and charts you build using this connection will automatically calculate against your entire dataset.
